From Goodreads: Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and
shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly
thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces!
Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish
pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of
The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as
"The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a
rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in
the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a
mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her
first.
I am super
excited for The Diviners by Libba
Bray to be released! It will be available in a little less than two weeks, on
September 18, 2012. I fell in love with
Libba Bray’s writing when I read A Great
& Terrible Beauty. She has a great sense for storytelling. The Gemma
Doyle Series was one of my favorites to date. I love period books and this one
takes place during the exciting times of the 1920’s, with speakeasies, jazz
music, flappers, and apparently some things that go bump in the night. I cannot
wait to become immersed in this fun world. This book may be releasing soon, but
it is not soon enough for me! Oh and in case you wanted a little something to wet your appetite until
then, I found a free preview of the Diviners available at Amazon and Barnes and
Nobles. You can read the first 11 chapters for free!! Links to it are below.
Have fun reading! J
