One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid Blog Tour & Giveaway!!

From the author of Maybe in Another Life—named a People Magazine pick and a "Best Book of the Summer" by Glamour and USA Today—comes a breathtaking new love story about a woman unexpectedly forced to choose between the husband she has long thought dead and the fiancé who has finally brought her back to life.

In her twenties, Emma Blair marries her high school sweetheart, Jesse. They build a life for themselves, far away from the expectations of their parents and the people of their hometown in Massachusetts. They travel the world together, living life to the fullest and seizing every opportunity for adventure.

On their first wedding anniversary, Jesse is on a helicopter over the Pacific when it goes missing. Just like that, Jesse is gone forever.

Emma quits her job and moves home in an effort to put her life back together. Years later, now in her thirties, Emma runs into an old friend, Sam, and finds herself falling in love again. When Emma and Sam get engaged, it feels like Emma’s second chance at happiness.

That is, until Jesse is found. He’s alive, and he’s been trying all these years to come home to her. With a husband and a fiancé, Emma has to now figure out who she is and what she wants, while trying to protect the ones she loves.

Who is her one true love? What does it mean to love truly?

Emma knows she has to listen to her heart. She’s just not sure what it’s saying.

Emma Blair is in the beginning stages of her thirties, having dinner with her family and fiancé when she receives a call from her husband that she thought has been dead for a little over three years is in fact alive and coming home. Talk about the shock of a lifetime! How is someone supposed to deal with a bomb like that? Well Emma is confused naturally and she's unsure of how she really feels and what she wants. But she does know that she doesn't want to hurt Sam (her fiancé), but she still loves Jesse (her husband).

The story has some flashbacks that show us Emma's life when she was in high school and she dreamed of traveling the world. It’s in high school where she first spots Jesse at a swim meet. It was love at first sight for her. And we also get to see her life after Jesse’s “death” when she starts seeing Sam.

These two guys are complete opposites. Jessie is an excellent swimmer with a ton of talent. There are even whispers around town that he could make it all the way to the Olympics. That's what his parents want and expect from him, but it’s not necessarily what Jesse wants for himself.

And then there's Sam…who Emma also meets in high school when he gets a job working at her parents bookstore. Samson musician he's very gifted at learning how to playing musical instruments and he already knows how to play six or seven of them. After hanging out with her at the bookstore he seems to really like her and he asked her out but because she only has eyes for Jessie she turned him down.

Maybe In Another Life is a sweet contemporary read that just might have you believing there's such a thing as true love and possibly even more than one true love. I just wish that the author would’ve delved more deeply into the characters of Sam and Jess. I would have loved the opportunity to have known them a little better. The story was very easy to get into and I kept turning the pages hoping that Emma would pick the guy I had in mind. Taylor Jenkins Reid does a really good job of creating realistic stories and characters and putting them in situations with added drama and emotion. I have no doubt I will read more of her books in the future.

Maybe In Another Life by Taylor Jenkins Reid Blog Tour!

Publication: July 7, 2015
Publisher: Washington Square Press
Source: Publisher

From the acclaimed author of Forever, Interrupted and After I Do comes a breathtaking new novel about a young woman whose fate hinges on the choice she makes after bumping into an old flame; in alternating chapters, we see two possible scenarios unfold—with stunningly different results.
At the age of twenty-nine, Hannah Martin still has no idea what she wants to do with her life. She has lived in six different cities and held countless meaningless jobs since graduating college. On the heels of leaving yet another city, Hannah moves back to her hometown of Los Angeles and takes up residence in her best friend Gabby’s guestroom. Shortly after getting back to town, Hannah goes out to a bar one night with Gabby and meets up with her high school boyfriend, Ethan.
Just after midnight, Gabby asks Hannah if she’s ready to go. A moment later, Ethan offers to give her a ride later if she wants to stay. Hannah hesitates. What happens if she leaves with Gabby? What happens if she leaves with Ethan?
In concurrent storylines, Hannah lives out the effects of each decision. Quickly, these parallel universes develop into radically different stories with large-scale consequences for Hannah, as well as the people around her. As the two alternate realities run their course, Maybe in Another Life raises questions about fate and true love: Is anything meant to be? How much in our life is determined by chance? And perhaps, most compellingly: Is there such a thing as a soul mate?
Hannah believes there is. And, in both worlds, she believes she’s found him.

I think pretty much everyone at one time or another has thought about what would have happened if they had gotten the chance to do something. Or if they would’ve made a different decision or chosen a different path in their life. Maybe In Another Life let's us explore that through Hannah, the main character in the story.
29 year old nomad Hannah, is finally moving back home to Los Angeles after being away for more than 10 years. Temporarily staying with her best friend Gabby and husband Mark, she attempts to get her life in order and figure out what it is she wants to do with her life.  Enter Ethan, her ex-boyfriend who she hasn’t gotten completely over.  From that night on, we get to see what would have happened if she stayed and hung out with him or went home with Gabby and Mark.
Hannah was easy to connect and relate to. She is a strong woman. Stronger than she believes she is and I liked that.  I especially enjoyed her friendship with Gabby. It’s nice to see two friends care about each other so much.
The story flowed really well. I didn’t get confused with going back and forth between the two alternate worlds. There is some romance for Hannah, but the romance isn’t the main part of the story. As far as the two worlds go, I did prefer one over the other, but overall I just wanted Hannah to be happy at the end of it all.

I really enjoyed this book. I thought it would be a light cute read, but it turned out to be more than just a cute story.  It was funny, a little emotional, and sweet. I ended up not wanting to put it down even though real life was calling my name. I loved the idea of rather or not fate really exists or if things just happen as a result of a single choice or multiple choices made. Who really knows? I would like to think it is a little bit of both. Maybe In Another Life was the perfect summer read. It wasn’t too heavy and it wasn’t super light. I would recommend anyone who likes contemporary romance and or modern alternate worlds to check this book out.
