Shadow of a Doubt (The Tangled Ivy Trilogy #2) by Tiffany Snow

Publication: May 12, 2015
Publisher: Montlake Romance
Source: Publisher / Bought(Own)

Ivy Mason has it all: beauty, a plush apartment, a fancy car, and a debonair British spy boyfriend who pays all her bills. If only her boyfriend was in her life—and her bed—more than just sporadically.
Part of an underground British agency called the Shadow, Devon Clay knows that secrecy is what has kept him alive. Anyone he loves is a liability, and being involved with him puts the other person in grave danger. Yet Ivy is someone his heart can’t resist.
When an enemy from Devon’s past returns, the spy and his girlfriend are thrown headlong into an international conspiracy that puts everyone Ivy loves at risk. From the Missouri River bottoms to the brothels of Amsterdam, Ivy and Devon must outrun and outmaneuver the forces allied against them, and no one can be trusted.

Shadow of a Doubt is the second book in the Tangled Ivy Trilogy by Tiffany Snow. It picks up a short time after the ending of In His Shadow.

I liked Ivy, but it seems like in this book she doesn’t have much common sense or what common sense she did have evaporated. Maybe it’s because she is extremely emotionally invested in her ‘relationship’ with Devon? I don't know...
She doesn’t want people to see her as a victim, as someone who constantly needs rescuing, but she doesn’t always make good judgement calls and she puts herself in situations where she does need rescuing.

At one point when Ivy and Devon are in a hotel room, she starts packing her bags to leave. Now people are after her. Her very life is in danger. But she doesn’t care about that. She wants to leave because it looks like there won’t be a future with Deven and he can’t give her more than he is right now.  I so wanted to shake her a few times during this book.

If she wants people to see her as strong and independent, then she needs to start acting strong and independent and I don’t think Ivy understands that unfortunately.

Other than that, the story was entertaining. It moved at a fast pace, and there was something almost always going on. I just wish that Ivy wasn’t so blinded by her feelings for Devon. It feels a bit one sided. Devon may care for her a little, but I don’t believe that the feelings run very deep.  The third book in the series, Out of the Shadows is expected to be released on December 15, 2015. I love Tiffany Snow’s writing style and will probably always read anything she writes, but I am going to say The Kathleen Turner series is my favorite series by her so far. In case you can’t get enough of Tiffany Snow’s writing, she has a new series starting up this summer! The first book, Power Play, releases on June 30th, so make sure to check it out.

RATING: 3 out of 5.

In His Shadow (Tangled Ivy #1) by Tiffany Snow

Publication: December 16, 2014
Publisher: Montlake Romance
Source: Publisher
Ivy Mason is hiding—from her past, from herself, and from anyone who could love her. The only kind of love she’s ever known hurts, leaving scars on her body and soul. Now, her world may be boring and predictable, but that’s exactly what she wants. Until Devon Clay walks into her life.

A lonely man in a deadly profession, Devon works as an agent for an underground British agency known only as the Shadow. Nothing about him is safe or ordinary. The danger that consumes his life turns into an addiction Ivy can’t resist...even if it proves fatal.

As Ivy’s past begins to catch up with her, she wonders if love really is the twisted thing she’s always thought it was. Maybe it could be more with this man, who’s shown her that she doesn’t need to protect herself from everyone. Is what she feels for Devon worth the risk? He may save her heart or break it, if she manages to stay alive.
Ivy Mason is an independent shoe obsessed woman who for the most part knows what she wants to achieve. Currently she works as a bank teller for a old and prestigious bank, which is how she ends up meeting sexy british guy, Devon Clay. Ivy has a past trauma, but she doesn’t want that to stop her from moving forward in her life.  She lives with her best friend since childhood Logan.
Devon is a mysterious and secretive fellow. Of course being a spy with an underground British agency might explain some of that. Though I am still debating on how I feel about him. Sexy? Yes. Quick on his feet? Sure.  Protective of Ivy? 100%.  A Villain? Not convinced.  I know his line of work is dangerous and getting too close to someone can be bad for both parties. He keeps insisting that he is a bad guy...a villain.  He’s not the right one for Ivy. But I am just not sure how bad he actually is. It felt like it was a front…a cop out. Rather he is good or bad, he and Ivy have a strong attraction. And just like Ivy cannot stop thinking about him, Devon can’t seem to stay away from her. And their chemistry is sizzling hot. I loved every second of it.

Devon reached up, brushing his thumb across my cheek. “ I don’t have a choice,” he said softly. “With those gold eyes looking at me as if I’m the hero rather than the villain-what’s a man to do?”

I loved getting to know Ivy and cannot wait to see how her character grows within this series.  There is a potential love triangle here. And I am thinking there might a third love interest? In His Shadow was a pretty addictive read. I finished it in less than two days.  So far there hasn’t been a book written by Tiffany Snow that I haven’t enjoyed on some level. I can’t say that I like this more than the Kathleen Turner series, but it’s too early to tell for sure. Regardless I am excited to see what else is in store for Ivy and Devon in book two of the Tangled Ivy Series, Shadow of a Doubt, releasing on May 5, 2015.

I love to write and am thrilled to be a part of the Amazon Montlake family. My debut novel, NO TURNING BACK, is the first book in The Kathleen Turner Series. I write about things I love to read myself - a heroine who could be a neighbor or best friend; two men who each portray their own version of darkness and light, each vying for her affection; and a story that focuses as much on the characters as it does the suspense. NO TURNING BACK, TURN TO ME, TURNING POINT, OUT OF TURN and POINT OF NO RETURN currently comprise The Kathleen Turner Series. There is also a companion novel to NO TURNING BACK entitled TURN ON A DIME - BLANE'S TURN. TURN ON A DIME - KADE'S TURN releases August 25, 2014. My new series, The Tangled Ivy Trilogy starts with the release of IN HIS SHADOW, set to release December 16, 2014. As for me, I've been reading romance novels since I was way too young to read such things, have an unhealthy obsession for all things Doctor Who, prefer Pepsi to Coke and Absolut to both, think men who drink girly cocktails are wusses, have learned to never stop believing in my beloved St. Louis Cardinals, and can recite the entire scripts of When Harry Met Sally and Apollo 13. George Washington is cool, Bon Jovi still rocks the house, and Bruce Willis is the ultimate alpha-male hero. Most of all, romance never, ever gets old.
