Riley Sager is the pseudonym of a former journalist, editor and graphic designer who previously published mysteries under his real name.

Now a full-time author, Riley's first thriller, FINAL GIRLS, became a national and international bestseller and was called "the first great thriller of 2017" by Stephen King. Translation rights have been sold in more than two dozen countries and a film version is being developed by Universal Pictures.

Riley's next book, THE LAST TIME I LIED, will be published in July. It was inspired by the classic novel and film "Picnic at Hanging Rock" and one horrible week Riley spent at summer camp when he was ten.

A native of Pennsylvania, Riley now lives in Princeton, New Jersey. When he's not working on his next novel, he enjoys reading, cooking and going to the movies as much as possible. His favorite film is "Rear Window." Or maybe "Jaws." But probably, if he's being honest, "Mary Poppins."

I’ve always had a thing for movies and books now involving con, heists,etc… That is what first caught my attention with this series last year. Trust Me, I’m Trouble is the sequel to Trust Me, I’m Trouble. Julep is dealing with the aftermath of everything that happened in the first book, while still attempting to pull of cons.

Julep is witty, smart, crafty, and has a multitude of skills at her disposal. Plus it seems like she has grown up a little more since the first book. Her choices so far may have been a little questionable, but she isn’t going to let them stop her from doing what she does best. A gifted manipulator, she has a way with words and getting people to say or do what she needs them to.

I really liked the mystery portion of the story. It wasn’t predictable and there were plenty of twists and surprises to keep me interested in reading. I ended up enjoying this book a little bit more than I did the first one. The writing and pace of the story was done well….I never got bored with the storyline and I liked how everything wasn’t easy to guess.

If you like stories involving schemes, con artists, and some mystery thrown into the mix, then I would recommend this series to you. The story begins with Alice showing up at the hospital after being notified that her sister Annie is in a coma barely hanging on. It’s there that she meets Jerry,  a private eye who claims to be a friend of Annie’s and who also worked with her on a couple of cases. Alice isn’t sure she can trust him, but at the moment she has very few options. 

Alice takes it upon herself to investigate why her sister was left for dead and what exactly was she doing the four years leading up to that moment. She does a pretty good job for someone who is sixteen. Though she does put herself into some dangerous situations almost from the start. She is smart, gutsy, and can thinking quickly on her feet...qualities which come in handy for her. 

Dead to Me has a vibe that reminded me of those old school radio programs like Philip Marlowe and Box 13. I used to listen to those programs growing up thanks to my dad and I loved them. The mystery part was done really well. I had no clue who was the bad guy or girl and what their motives were. There were one or two things that I guessed, but for the most part everything was a surprise. I liked Mary McCoy’s writing style.  She did a good job with the descriptions and characters, plus the story was easy to follow and ended up being a quick read.

Mary McCoy is a librarian at the Los Angeles Public Library. She has also been a contributor to On Bunker Hill and the 1947project, where she wrote stories about Los Angeles's notorious past. She grew up in western Pennsylvania and studied at Rhodes College and the University of Wisconsin. Mary now lives in Los Angeles with her husband. Her debut novel, Dead To Me, is a YA mystery set in the glamorous, treacherous world of 1940s Hollywood.
