See Jane Run by Hannah Jayne Blog Tour & Interview

Publication: January 7, 2014

Publisher: Sourcebooks Fire

I know who you are.

When Riley first gets the postcard tucked into her bag, she thinks it’s a joke. Then she finds a birth certificate for a girl named Jane Elizabeth O’Leary hidden inside her baby book.

Riley’s parents have always been pretty overprotective. What if it wasn’t for her safety….but fear of her find out their secret? What have they been hiding? The more Riley digs for answers, the more questions she has.

The only way to know the truth? Find out what happened to Jane O’Leary.

Riley is pretty much your typical teenager. Her parents are extremely overprotective. They say it is for her own good, especially since Riley can suffer from panic attacks and has to take medication for it. But given that Riley is a teen she feels like she is being punished more than protected.

As soon as Riley discovers a birth certificate belonging to a Jane O’Leary, she is filled with all sorts of curiosity and questions. So naturally she begins digging for information. Her best friend Shelby was a little too pushy in trying to get her to look into who Jane is, but I guess that sort of got the ball rolling.

The suspense builds in the story as someone starts sending Riley postcards saying they know who she is. It made me wonder if someone was watching her or just trying to toy with her.

It could be just because I am a sucker for a mystery, but the mystery of the story was the part that kept my interest the most and kept me flipping pages. The twists and turns had me on the edge of my seat. And I had a hard time trying to guess who was being honest and what the truth actually was.

RATING: 3 OUT OF 5.

**I received this book on behalf of the Publisher as part of this blog tour in exchange for nothing but my honest opinion. Thank you**

Interview with Hannah Jayne:

1.     What inspired you to write this novel?
a.     I really love the idea of who we are vs. who we think we are vs. who other people think we are, especially when it comes to the teen years. That’s when it seems like everyone is trying on new personae’s and trying to figure out what works. I really wanted to capture that.

2.     Do you have a favorite quote or line from the book?
a.     “Then I won’t ask you to suck my Blow Pop.”

3.     What do you believe is one of the most important aspects of writing?
a.     Actually writing. So many people want to be authors and they take craft courses and attend lectures and design covers and research copyright law which is all great, but they don’t actually sit their butts in their chairs and write.

4.     Did you always know you wanted to become a writer?
a.     I was in the second grade when I decided I was going to become an author. Granted, I assumed I would be able to do that by the fifth grade but…

5.     Favorite book and why?
a.     I have dozens but the one I always return to—and could probably recite as well as read—is Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein. I love everything about it—the basic story, the underlying story, the message, and most notably the fact that she wrote it when she was seventeen and blew Percy Shelly and William Wordsworth out of the water with it.

6.     What song are you currently listening to in your mp3/cd player?
a.     Actually, I’m listening to my self-created See Jane Run playlist!

7.     If you were stranded on a desert island for a month, what 3-4 things would be essential to you?

a.     My laptop, high-speed internet (for, uh, business purposes), and a fat stack of books!
