Double Crossed: A Spy & Thieves Story by Ally Carter

Macey McHenry—Glamorous society girl or spy-in-training?

W.W. Hale V—Heir to an American dynasty or master thief?

There are two sides to every coin. Whether these two can work together is a tossup.
Born into privilege, Macey and Hale are experts at mingling with the upper class. But even if they’ve never raised an eyebrow at the glitz, neither teenager has ever felt at home with the glamour.
When Macey and Hale meet at a society gala, the party takes a dangerous turn. Suddenly they’re at the center of a hostage situation, and it’s up to them to stop the thugs from becoming hostile. Will Macey’s spy skills and Hale’s con-man ways be enough to outsmart a ruthless gang? Or will they have to seek out the ultimate inside girl to help?

The worlds of Heist Society and the Gallagher Girls collide in Ally Carter’s fast-paced, high-stakes and tantalizing new story. Get a behind the scenes glimpse as Ally delivers an irresistible thriller that is full of her signature style and savvy twists.

Different worlds collide in Double Crossed: A Spies & Thieves Story. Ally Carter’s short story e-book combining two of her popular book series, Gallagher Girls and Heist Society.
Macey and Hale meet each other while attending the same party in New York. However, bad guys in masks ruin the night by crashing the party and taking everyone inside hostage.  Despite their different skills, these two decide to work together to figure out what is going on and why in order to put an end to it. I like their interactions and witty banter with each other. It was a lot fun to read.

“Why don’t I know you?” “Does anyone ever really know someone else?” “You think you’re cute,” she told him. “You think you’re gorgeous. But I’m the one guy here who knows better.” “So I’m not gorgeous?” Macey challenged. “Of course you are.” He started away, turned back at the last minute. “But I’m the guy who figured out that’s not all you are.”

I have always been curious about the Heist Society series since I have heard a lot about it. This story wet my appetite for the books. The storyline and characters are entertaining and unique.

Rating: 4 out of 5.
