Love Unscripted by Tina Reber

How awesome would it be to meet a gorgeous A-List actor accidentally, become friends, and have that friendship turn into something more? That is a question that is answered in Love Unscripted. A story about Taryn Mitchell and Ryan Christensen and how ever since their chance meeting, their lives may never be the same again.

From Goodreads: Ryan Christensen just wanted to be an actor. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever think that accepting a role in an unknown film would toss his career into overdrive. His new fame has cost him dearly; anonymity is no longer an option. His fans stalk him, the paparazzi hound him, and Hollywood studios all want a piece of him. Despite all of that, Ryan Christensen craves the most basic of human needs - to have love in his heart and privacy in his life.

Taryn Mitchell, the story's protagonist, is a realist. She's been feigning contentment, running the family pub in Seaport, Rhode Island, while quietly nursing her own internal heartaches. Her feet are fairly glued to the ground and she doesn't buy into all the hype that has descended on her tiny, coastal town. In her world, men are safe if they're kept at a distance.

Fate has other plans for these two when their paths cross one sunny afternoon. A group of female fans has attacked him, leaving his shirt torn, his face cut, and Ryan in obvious distress. Bonds between them form from the most dramatic of circumstances while jealousy, insecurity, and the stress of his celebrity life try to tear them apart.

I had heard a lot of good things regarding Love Unscripted, so I was very excited to read this book.  It is a bit lengthy which made me a little hesitant at first, but after I got into the story I found I did not want it to end.

Ryan Christensen is a successful actor at the height of his career. He is in Taryn’s town of Seaport, Rhode Island filming a movie. He enjoys being an actor, but not necessarily everything that comes along with his celebrity status. The paparazzi follow him everywhere he goes; he has crazy stalker fans, and it seems like everyone in Hollywood is vying for his attention and time. All he really wants is to have a private life and to fall in love without everyone watching his every move.
Taryn Mitchell is a 27 year old savvy business woman. She has her hand in several different business ventures and is the owner of a pub. Taryn has a big heart; she is loyal, and is very supportive of her friends. Being hurt in the past has made her a little guarded; she has issues with trust and is cautious about entering into a relationship with Ryan at first.
Taryn doesn’t go crazy over Ryan because he is a celebrity; she treats him like a regular person. She hasn’t even seen one of his movies, so his status does not impress her. Ryan likes that for once he has met someone who doesn’t want something from him because of who he is or what he could do for them. To him, Taryn is just like the girl next door, and he instantly likes her.

The book may seem to start out slow for some, but for me I thought it was a nice steady pace. Ryan and Taryn’s relationship did not just happen instantly, which is one of the things I really enjoyed about this story. It started with a friendship and grew from there….it took time. That is what made the romance in Love Unscripted realistic. In some books the attraction and jump to relationship is so quick, there is no real time to see things progress like in a real-life situation.
Tina Reber paints a clear and detailed picture of the characters and the world around them. I couldn’t help but become drawn into the story and not only did I feel like I could relate to Ryan and Taryn, but I fell in love with them as well.

“There's only one thing I need." I placed my hand on his heart. "The rest is just details.”

Tina Reber, Love Unscripted

Love Unscripted is a solid genuine novel full of occasions that will make you laugh, true romance that will make you swoon, and moments that will tug on your heartstrings. The title of this book is perfect…there is no script for love. It can be messy, complicated, fun, exhilarating, filled with insecurities and fear of the unexpected. But that’s what makes it fun though right? The not knowing what will happen when you start dating someone, and the warm fuzzy feelings you get when you stop and realize that you have fallen in love when you least expected it.
This book left me wondering why the heck it took me so long to read it and how fast can I buy the sequel Love Unrehearsed, which btw was just released on September 14th!

I give Love Unscripted  4 out of 5 stars.
