Crow's Row by Julie Hockley

Emily Sheppard is a freshman at Callister University in New York. She decides to enjoy her summer vacation by herself. She spends her days working at the university library and in the evenings/nights she finds comfort in running. Emily comes from a wealthy family, but she does not want anything to do with her parents or their money. That is why she chose to live in a not so great area of town and go to a small lesser known university. She wants to learn how to make it on her own.

In the course of one of her many jogs through the cemetery where her brother Bill is buried, she happens to witness someone being murdered. She recognizes Cameron (having met him previously when his dog Meatball attacked her while she was jogging) before everything goes black. She wakes up in an unfamiliar place and realizes she has been taken against her will. Cameron tells her that he is just protecting her and it is not safe for her to go back to her home yet. So Emily is forced to live with him and his gang until he decides she is free to go…if he decides she is free to go...

During the course of her stay, Emily finds out that Cameron is a 26 year old crime boss. Even though his morals are in question and he seems to be hiding something, Emily finds herself falling for him. Cameron feels something for Emily as well, but he tries to fight it, fearing that it can only end in heartbreak.

“You’re beautiful, Emmy. Why can’t you see that? I didn’t know how to answer that. Cameron hadn’t been there when kids were trying to outdo each other on finding new nicknames for me or when they were taking bets in high school on whether I had red hair, all over. He took a breath, reached over and swept a lingering hair away from my face. For me, there’s no one else but you. A tear escaped the corner of my eye and slid down the side of my nose. Then why won’t you kiss me? His eyes were piercing. Do you know how hard this is for me? I want to kiss you. I want to wrap my arms around you, never let you go.”  -Julie Hockley, Crow’s Row

Is it an emotional read? Yes
Will it make you cry? Yes.
Is it worth it? OMG Totally!

Crow’s Row is one of the best books I have read this year; my only regret was that I didn’t discover it sooner.  The characters were in-depth, and there is enough suspense and twists in the story that keep it interesting. I loved this book. I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride filled with highs and lows and I didn’t want to get off. The ending took me by surprise and all I wanted to know was where is the sequel???  Unfortunately Scare Crow, the sequel to Crow’s Row is slated to come out next year, so I will have to develop a little patience.

Rating: 4 ½ out of 5.

Wild Encounter by Nikki Logan

Once I saw the cover and read the synopsis of Wild Encounter, I just had to try it. The story starts off at a good pace, and I was immediately drawn into it.
Clare Delaney is determined and capable veterinarian who gets thrust into one of the worst situations you can be in while on a release mission in Africa.  Hijacked by a group of smugglers while she is in the back of a convoy with a pack of sedated wild dogs, she begins to fear for not just her life, but for the dogs as well. She is taken hostage by the smugglers and it is then that she picks out who she believes to be the leader and names him Alpha. She tries to connect with Alpha in the hopes that once she develops some kind of rapport with him, he won’t be so willing to kill her.  She is desperate and is willing to attempt to even use seduction as a means of escape.

Alpha, whose actual name is Simon, sees through her plans to seduce and calls her on it. Even though he knows what she is trying to do, the more time they spend together the more there is an attraction that begins to develop with these two. But Simon has a job to do (which remains a mystery at first), and finding Clare in the back of that convoy put a big hole in his plan big time. Now is has to figure out a way to keep Clare safe and still do the job he has planned. Not an easy task.
Clare and Simon are not sure how much they can trust the other, and they struggle with that issue as they start to realize their feelings.

“This is not a good idea…”And what if it’s not real? She clung to the nearest good reason not to take what she so desperately wanted. He tipped his head until his lips barely brushed hers. His knuckles scraped back her hair. “It wasn’t a good idea last time, either, but you applied yourself admirably to the task.” His breath tortured her lips with the lightest of caresses. “Tell me you don’t feel the spark between us and I’ll crawl out of here and never trouble you again.”
It wasn’t a spark.
It was wild fire.
-Nikki Logan, Wild Encounter

This story took place on the backdrop of Africa, which was described in good detail that I could easily imagine the African scenery and wildlife as I read along. One of the things I liked about this book is that it isn’t a fluffy romance with tons of sex and a little bit of story added to it for good measure. Wild Encounter has an enthralling solid story line with enough suspense, romance, and surprises that will keep you glued to your seat throughout the whole book.

Etiquette for the End of the World by Jeanne Martinet

From Goodreads: A romantic comedy of post-millennial manners, apocalyptic career moves, and a woman's last chance to get life right...

RULE #1: DON'T PANIC—IT ONLY ATTRACTS THE SHARKS

It's not the end of the world. That's what 39-year-old Tess Eliot has to remind herself after losing her newspaper column ("Tess Knows Best") and being dumped by her boyfriend for a younger woman (a feng shui expert? Really?) Then Tess is hired to write an etiquette guide preparing readers for the Ancient Mayan doomsday of December 21, 2012, and she has to ask herself: Could the world really be coming to an end? At first, Tess fakes her way through chapters like "Boundaries in the Bunker" and "Cannibalism: Yes or No?" But after uncovering a secret plot for world destruction, she is forced to embark on a life-changing odyssey of her own—involving all-too-close encounters with touchy-feely survivalists, conspiracy theorists and one handsome guy who seems way too perfect.

********
What would you do if you thought the world was going to end on December 21, 2012? Would it be safe to go out in public if you were one of the lucky people that survived?
That is the issue that writer, Tess Eliot is tasked with when she is asked to write a guide regarding the preparation for the end of the world by a company called W.H.O.O.S.H: The World Organization for Omniscient Solstice Harbingers. Now that is a mouthful right?

When Tess meets these people, she finds out that they actually believe the world will end and are quite serious about this project. She however thinks they sound more like a cult and does not take the whole world ending thing very seriously at all. Since Tess recently lost her “Tess Knows Best” newspaper column, she is in desperate need of a job, so she agrees to write the book.  With her personality and quick-wit, this writing assignment is perfect for Tess. And even though the end of the world is a heavy and serious topic to write about, she gives it a light and upbeat tone that readers will find engaging.

While she is working for W.O.O.S.H, she meets Peter Barrett, who is head of Donor Relations for the company. Peter becomes enamored with Tess and they start spending some time together outside of work. Peter is handsome, charming, and seemingly perfect. A little too perfect possibly…

The premise might sound a bit out there, but don’t let that fool you. Etiquette for the End of the World is a witty and light hearted weekend read that will take you on a crazy journey filled with memorable and funny characters, and a woman who will question W.O.O.S.H’s real motives and begin to wonder if there is some truth behind their belief after all.

The author, Jeanne Martinet adds just the right amount of humor to this story.  I laughed numerous times while reading. It wasn’t one of those books that I couldn’t put down, but it was entertaining and fun nonetheless.

I would give this book a 3/12 out of 5 rating.

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century by Rachel Harris

Synopsis:
On the precipice of her sixteenth birthday, the last thing lone wolf Cat Crawford wants is an extravagant gala thrown by her bubbly stepmother and well-meaning father. So even though Cat knows the family’s trip to Florence, Italy, is a peace offering, she embraces the magical city and all it offers. But when her curiosity leads her to an unusual gypsy tent, she exits . . . right into Renaissance Firenze.

Thrust into the sixteenth century armed with only a backpack full of contraband future items, Cat joins up with her ancestors, the sweet Alessandra and protective Cipriano, and soon falls for the gorgeous aspiring artist Lorenzo. But when the much-older Niccolo starts sniffing around, Cat realizes that an unwanted birthday party is nothing compared to an unwanted suitor full of creeptastic amore. Can she find her way back to modern times before her Italian adventure turns into an Italian forever?

Cat Crawford is a teen girl on the verge of her 16th birthday. She is shy and a bit of loner, part of which comes from being hurt and not wanting people to get close to her. She is a big art enthusiast, and has been dreaming of going to Italy and exploring her Italian heritage for quite some time. While on a tour through the city she stumbles upon a gypsy and thus begins the start of her time traveling adventure.

When she discovers that she must have gone back in time, she wasn’t as freaked out as I thought she would be. Especially for a 15 year old, she took the situation rather well…almost too well. Though she does panic a bit at first, she warms to the idea and decides to use this trip as a way to discover more about her family. Her family consisting of her uncle Marco, aunt Francesca, and cousins Alessandra and Cipriano.

While staying her with her 16th century family she meets Lorenzo, the best friend of Cipriano. Lorenzo is quite taken with Cat, but she dismisses him as being a total player and wants nothing to do with him.  Eventually her feelings change and she starts to like him.  The more she stays there and interacts with everyone the more she starts to look at things differently.

“Letting anyone besides Dad get close to me was never a part of my life plan. I’ve seen what it does, the pain it can cause. But now it’s happening anyway, and not just with Lorenzo. Alessandra, Cipriano, my aunt and uncle… Loving each of them is like an earthquake— I can feel it; I know the destruction it’ll leave behind and have witnessed previous aftermaths, but I’m powerless to stop it. And the worst part is, I don’t really want to."
-Rachel Harris, My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century
(That is one of my favorite quotes in the book).

My Super Sweet Sixteenth Century (MSSSC for short) is a fun and light-hearted read, that I am happy to have discovered. It has some fluffiness, but not too much so that it’s over the top, which is good.  Normally I don’t care for the whole time traveling concept in books, but for this story I didn’t mind it.  Even though this book is on the younger side of the YA book spectrum than what I would normally go for, I was still able to get into it and enjoy the story.
One thing that I liked was Rachel Harris’s way of describing Italy and the various surroundings. It was so nicely detailed that I almost felt like I was there too. My only big complaint is that there is a cliffhanger at the end. That I was not expecting at all. Now I will be on pins and needles wondering when the second book will be released and what will happen next.  I liked this book enough that even though I got it as an ARC, I ended up buying a copy anyway.

Love Unscripted by Tina Reber

How awesome would it be to meet a gorgeous A-List actor accidentally, become friends, and have that friendship turn into something more? That is a question that is answered in Love Unscripted. A story about Taryn Mitchell and Ryan Christensen and how ever since their chance meeting, their lives may never be the same again.

From Goodreads: Ryan Christensen just wanted to be an actor. Never in his wildest dreams did he ever think that accepting a role in an unknown film would toss his career into overdrive. His new fame has cost him dearly; anonymity is no longer an option. His fans stalk him, the paparazzi hound him, and Hollywood studios all want a piece of him. Despite all of that, Ryan Christensen craves the most basic of human needs - to have love in his heart and privacy in his life.

Taryn Mitchell, the story's protagonist, is a realist. She's been feigning contentment, running the family pub in Seaport, Rhode Island, while quietly nursing her own internal heartaches. Her feet are fairly glued to the ground and she doesn't buy into all the hype that has descended on her tiny, coastal town. In her world, men are safe if they're kept at a distance.

Fate has other plans for these two when their paths cross one sunny afternoon. A group of female fans has attacked him, leaving his shirt torn, his face cut, and Ryan in obvious distress. Bonds between them form from the most dramatic of circumstances while jealousy, insecurity, and the stress of his celebrity life try to tear them apart.
******
I had heard a lot of good things regarding Love Unscripted, so I was very excited to read this book.  It is a bit lengthy which made me a little hesitant at first, but after I got into the story I found I did not want it to end.

Ryan Christensen is a successful actor at the height of his career. He is in Taryn’s town of Seaport, Rhode Island filming a movie. He enjoys being an actor, but not necessarily everything that comes along with his celebrity status. The paparazzi follow him everywhere he goes; he has crazy stalker fans, and it seems like everyone in Hollywood is vying for his attention and time. All he really wants is to have a private life and to fall in love without everyone watching his every move.
Taryn Mitchell is a 27 year old savvy business woman. She has her hand in several different business ventures and is the owner of a pub. Taryn has a big heart; she is loyal, and is very supportive of her friends. Being hurt in the past has made her a little guarded; she has issues with trust and is cautious about entering into a relationship with Ryan at first.
Taryn doesn’t go crazy over Ryan because he is a celebrity; she treats him like a regular person. She hasn’t even seen one of his movies, so his status does not impress her. Ryan likes that for once he has met someone who doesn’t want something from him because of who he is or what he could do for them. To him, Taryn is just like the girl next door, and he instantly likes her.

The book may seem to start out slow for some, but for me I thought it was a nice steady pace. Ryan and Taryn’s relationship did not just happen instantly, which is one of the things I really enjoyed about this story. It started with a friendship and grew from there….it took time. That is what made the romance in Love Unscripted realistic. In some books the attraction and jump to relationship is so quick, there is no real time to see things progress like in a real-life situation.
Tina Reber paints a clear and detailed picture of the characters and the world around them. I couldn’t help but become drawn into the story and not only did I feel like I could relate to Ryan and Taryn, but I fell in love with them as well.

“There's only one thing I need." I placed my hand on his heart. "The rest is just details.”

Tina Reber, Love Unscripted

Love Unscripted is a solid genuine novel full of occasions that will make you laugh, true romance that will make you swoon, and moments that will tug on your heartstrings. The title of this book is perfect…there is no script for love. It can be messy, complicated, fun, exhilarating, filled with insecurities and fear of the unexpected. But that’s what makes it fun though right? The not knowing what will happen when you start dating someone, and the warm fuzzy feelings you get when you stop and realize that you have fallen in love when you least expected it.
This book left me wondering why the heck it took me so long to read it and how fast can I buy the sequel Love Unrehearsed, which btw was just released on September 14th!

I give Love Unscripted  4 out of 5 stars.

Releasing Soon: Ten by Gretchen McNeil

From Goodreads: And their doom comes swiftly.

It was supposed to be the weekend of their lives—an exclusive house party on Henry Island. Best friends Meg and Minnie each have their reasons for being there (which involve T.J., the school’s most eligible bachelor) and look forward to three glorious days of boys, booze and fun-filled luxury.

But what they expect is definitely not what they get, and what starts out as fun turns dark and twisted after the discovery of a DVD with a sinister message: Vengeance is mine.

Suddenly people are dying, and with a storm raging, the teens are cut off from the outside world. No electricity, no phones, no internet, and a ferry that isn’t scheduled to return for two days. As the deaths become more violent and the teens turn on each other, can Meg find the killer before more people die? Or is the killer closer to her than she could ever imagine?

How can that description not pique your interest? It did mine. Ten is supposed to be inspired by Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None (Also known as Ten Little Indians). I read And Then There Were None a few years ago and loved it. It is one book I could not see what was coming next…truly a suspense murder mystery. So when I heard about Ten releasing, I was excited to find out what kind of twists the author put in the book and how she chose to retell this classic story with a modern day setting

Ten will be releasing on September 18, 2012!!!

Preservation by Rachael Wade

But this isn't a story about my coming of age or all the shit I went through growing up. It’s a love story about how I met Ryan. How he stole my running shoes and put reality in perspective for me. In the most infuriating, blindingly beautiful way possible, a way that only he could. And how I wrestled with his influence until the inevitable instilled me with a brand new kind of fear—regret.

Preservation was an easy story to get into. Kate Parker is a college student living in Seattle who is trying to get by. She feels the constant pressures of life as she worries about paying for college, the threat of getting evicted from her apartment, and her sick mom that she takes care of.  Life is by no means easy for her, but she manages the best she knows how. She is focused and serious about what she wants and how she will go about it.  Kate wants to become a writer and get her work published.
The story starts with Kate being late for her creative writing class with her new professor Ryan Campbell. She is not only late, but soaking wet from the rain and carrying a ton of stuff with her. Her entrance disrupts the class which does not make the professor happy.

“Is this going to be a habit, Ms. Parker?” He propped himself against his desk and folded his arms again, glancing at me curiously as I stood at his side. “Because I’m very fond of punctuality, in case you haven’t noticed. It’s high on my list of priorities.” Good-looking, condescending bastard. “Yes, I’m very aware of that, Mr. Campbell.” I clenched my teeth and brushed wet strands of black hair behind my ear, deadpanning him. “Mondays are really tough for me. I don’t mean to cause a distraction.” “Well you do,” his eyes rolled over my shoulders, assessing the heavy bags draped over them. “You’re very distracting. Are you carrying your kitchen sink in those bags? If you’re living on campus and just trying to look like an overachiever, you should know that your charade is not endearing, nor is it going to drum up sympathy.” He ran his fingers through his golden brown hair and then straightened his tweed jacket out, brushing off the coat’s arms as he spoke. I gawked at him, equally mesmerized by his bright hazel eyes and boorish remark. “Excuse me?” My brow furrowed in confusion, bringing me back to planet Earth. “I’m sorry, how is what I carry in my bags any of your business?” “It’s called dry sarcasm, Ms. Parker. Perhaps you should acquaint yourself with it if you’re going to be taking my class.”

As you can see things do not get off to a great start between these two. Even though Kate may think he is handsome, she doesn't have any immediate intention of hooking up with her teacher. Not to mention Ryan Campbell is known to be somewhat of a ladies man, especially with his students, and Kate doesn't need the addition trouble or heartache that could come attached with that.

Her two best friends Dean and Carter are super hilarious.  Dean and Carter have crushes on Kate, but she is not looking for a relationship at the moment and she does not want to ruin her friendships over it.

In all fairness, he was right. I knew I hung all over him, Carter, and the rest of the band. Hung over them like all of their groupies did, only without the slutty advances and come-hither eyes. Still, there wasn’t much I could do about it. I was so comfortable around them and I never felt like they were taking advantage of me. They treated me like one of the guys, like an equal. And that was something I wasn’t used to. Guys hit on me and girls ran their mouths behind my back. Things rarely ever deviated from that norm. Friends like Carter and his band mates didn't come along very often, and I was very aware of the fact. Still, that didn't change things. I didn't want to be involved with anyone. Not any time soon, anyway. -Rachael Wade, Preservation

As the story progresses Kate and Ryan keep running into each other and they start spending time together. At first Ryan warns Kate away, mainly because he is her teacher and he doesn't want to get involved with her unless she drops his classes, which she refuses to do.  They end up starting a relationship regardless. I should note that even though Ryan is her teacher, they are not very far off in age. Kate’s writing starts to inspire to Ryan and his writing. Both of their past relationships have not been very great, so they have reason to be cautious of where things are going, but Ryan isn’t that cautious.  I was surprised that even though Ryan had been hurt previously he was willing to try and be with Kate so quickly. Kate on the other hand…even though she was falling for Ryan, she still put up walls and did not want to invest everything into the relationship at the risk of being hurt. Without giving anything away, there was a situation between Ryan and Kate that I was more than surprised by. I did not even understand how it could happen. To this day I am still a bit confused by it, by maybe that is just me. But I was not sure how I felt about Ryan or his motives after it.

I really liked the story. It isn't your typical teacher/ student romance at all, and that is what I like about it. This book was a good quick read. Someone had mentioned that if I liked Beautiful Disaster I would love this book. I did like Preservation, but not as much as I liked Beautiful Disaster. I felt like the background of the characters could have been explained a bit more in the book. And even though Kate’s writing inspired Ryan to finish writing his own book, it would have been nice to actually find out why he did a complete 180 and changed his ways for Kate. Other than that I did like the characters and I was rooting for them to make it. If I were to rate this book, I would give it a 3 ½ out of 5 rating.

Releasing Soon!! The Diviners by Libba Bray

From Goodreads: Evie O'Neill has been exiled from her boring old hometown and shipped off to the bustling streets of New York City--and she is pos-i-toot-ly thrilled. New York is the city of speakeasies, shopping, and movie palaces! Soon enough, Evie is running with glamorous Ziegfield girls and rakish pickpockets. The only catch is Evie has to live with her Uncle Will, curator of The Museum of American Folklore, Superstition, and the Occult--also known as "The Museum of the Creepy Crawlies."
When a rash of occult-based murders comes to light, Evie and her uncle are right in the thick of the investigation. And through it all, Evie has a secret: a mysterious power that could help catch the killer--if he doesn't catch her first.

I am super excited for The Diviners by Libba Bray to be released! It will be available in a little less than two weeks, on September 18, 2012.  I fell in love with Libba Bray’s writing when I read A Great & Terrible Beauty. She has a great sense for storytelling. The Gemma Doyle Series was one of my favorites to date. I love period books and this one takes place during the exciting times of the 1920’s, with speakeasies, jazz music, flappers, and apparently some things that go bump in the night. I cannot wait to become immersed in this fun world. This book may be releasing soon, but it is not soon enough for me! Oh and in case you wanted a  little something to wet your appetite until then, I found a free preview of the Diviners available at Amazon and Barnes and Nobles. You can read the first 11 chapters for free!! Links to it are below. Have fun reading! J

Wrong Bed, Right Guy by Katee Robert

Wrong Bed, Right Guy is a steamy romantic read that hits all the right spots. Elle Walser, an uptight art gallery coordinator is in search of Mr. Right and comes up with a crazy plan to seduce her boss Nick. The mishap starts when Elle puts everything into motion and she goes into Nick’s bedroom…She doesn’t turn the light on so it’s dark, she seems him and the seduction begins…It isn’t until things get a little heated and she really hears the mystery man’s voice does she freak out and realize that it isn’t Nick in the bed with her.  She ends up running out of there as fast as her legs can carry her. It isn’t until the next day when she is at work that she discovers the mystery man is none other than Nick’s brother, Gabe. It’s then that the real pursuit begins on Gabe’s part. Even though they were together for a short time, Elle made a big impression on him and he wants to date her. He makes an impression on Elle as well, but she doesn’t want to admit it to herself. In her eyes, Gabe is considered a bad boy; from the tattoos to the several nightclubs he owns. The attraction starts to grow the more they spend time together and despite herself Elle admits what she actually thinks about Gabe to her best friend Rox.

“I don’t know, Rox. There’s something really, really attractive about him in a Neanderthal sort of way. Like you look at him and want to have him haul you back to his cave, and have his wicked way with you.” Holy crap, she couldn’t believe she’d just admitted that out loud. But it felt kind of good to say it so Elle kept going, toying with her straw as she went on. “I mean, sure he’s rough around the edges, but his tattoos are amazing and that mouth is just sinful.” “Yes… yes it is.” She frowned at the weird look on her friend’s face. “Rox?” Then she realized Roxanne wasn’t looking at her. She was focusing on some point over Elle’s shoulder. The room swayed as all the blood rushed from her head and foreboding slammed through her system. This couldn’t be happening. There was seriously no way this was happening. “Please tell me he’s not standing right behind me.” Roxanne put her elbows on the table and propped her chin in her hands as if getting ready to watch a show. “He’s totally right behind you.” -Katee Robert, Wrong Bed, Right Guy

As the going theme in the books I have been reading lately, Elle and Gabe both have a past and or issues that these two try to work through as this new relationship unfolds and they figure out they need and want. Obstacles and misunderstandings get thrown in the mix along a good dose of playful humor and steamy love scenes.

At around 144 pages, Wrong Bed, Right Guy is a delightful quick read that made me laugh and swoon. It’s a book you read when you just want a fun entertaining romance to sweep you off your feet.

This book is Book 1 of the Come Undone series. I am hoping the second book will involve Nick and give him a chance at happiness. As I was reading I got the implication that there was something with Nick and a past relationship with one of Rox’s friends that would be fun exploring. I am excited to find out if I am right or not. You can find out more about the Undone series on the author’s website: http://kateerobert.com/come-undone/

Beautiful Disaster by Jamie McGuire

Beautiful Disaster was my first YA adult book dealing with college students. And I loved it. The story hooked me. It all started with a bet...Abby is trying to be the good girl and Travis is a bad boy who is used to girls fawning over him all of the time. Despite their differences they become friends, but Travis seems to want more unlike Abby who isn't interested. They end up making a bet that if Travis loses a fight he won't sleep with anyone for a month and if Abby loses she has to live with him in his apartment for a month. That’s when things get more interesting between these two. Their friendship progresses into something more which everyone but Abby seems to realize.

He gripped my shoulders. “The way I feel about you…it’s crazy.” “You got the crazy part right,” I snapped, pulling away from him.  I practiced this in my head the whole time we were on the bike, so just hear me out,” he said. “Travis—““I Know we’re fucked up, all right? I’m impulsive, and hot-tempered, and you get under my skin like no one else. You act like you hate me one minute, and then you need me the next. I never get anything right, and I don’t deserve you…but I fucking love you, Abby. I love you more than I’ve loved anyone or anything, ever.  When you’re around, I don’t need booze, or money, or the fighting, or the one-night stands…all I need is you. You’re all I think about. You’re all I dream about. You’re all I want.” My plan to feign ignorance was an epic fail. I couldn’t pretend to be impervious when he had laid all of his cards on the table. When we met, something inside both of us had changed, and whatever that was, it made us need each other. For reasons unknown to me, I was his exception, and as much as I had tried to fight my feelings, he was mine.  – Jamie McGuire, Beautiful Disaster

I liked the intensity and passion that they created when they were together. Their relationship was deep and at times borderline unhealthy, but I could not stop reading. It took me on an emotional ride that would not let up. They each came with their own set of issues and baggage. I liked how the author explored some of their background, so that the characters could be better understood. Even though their relationship was crazy, it worked…they worked. They made each other happy and understood each other like no one else did.  I was rooting for them the whole way. I have to say Beautiful Disaster quickly became one of my favorites, one that I will re-read often.

Special Deal: Crash by Nicole Williams

I am not sure how long this deal will last, but in honor of Nicole Williams new novel CLASH releasing, she has the first book in the series CRASH on sale for $0.99!! So go buy it for that price while you still can.

Taken from Goodreads: Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.

Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.

For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart.

I have been wanting to try this book since I heard about it over the summer. And when I heard of this special price for it, I new I had to pick it up. I am interested in it because it sounds like a cool angst/emotional book. If you like books similar to the angst and intensity of Beautiful Disaster then you should give this one a read. At 0.99 cents how could you let this deal pass you by???
